Wait Until the Machine is Full
What to do:
Wait to run the washer and dishwasher until they're completely full. This way, you can get your dishes and clothes clean while running fewer loads. (To save even more energy, let your dishes air dry and wash your clothes in cold water.)
Why it Helps the Earth:
The less you use your cleaning machines, the less energy you use to transport and heat water and to run the appliances themselves.
What the Research Says:
According to Energy Star, the average American Family runs 400 loads of laundry a year. According to the California Energy Comission's Consumer Energy Center, as much as 50 percent of an average city's energy bill goes to transporting and purifying water.
Why it Helps You:
In addition to saving resources for future generations, you'll be saving money for future enjoyment each time you get your electric bill.

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
Mahatma Gandi
"In Wilderness is the preservation of the world."
Henry David Thoreau, "Walking"
"Mine is a message of hope. If everybody could think a little bit about the small choices that they make every day:
What do you eat, does it result in animal cruelty? What do you wear, how was it made, does it damage the environment?
When people start thinking like that, they do change. They do make changes. And when more and more people think like that, we get critical mass."
Jane Goodall
