Reuse Scrap Paper
What to do:
Save scrap paper and reuse it for tasks such as printing directions and coupons or writing lists. Once you've used one side of the paper,
flip it over and use the other. Fliers and other advertisements often have a blank side that can be used, too.
Why it Helps the Earth:
Everyone knows that making paper takes trees. It's easier to forget that making paper, and even recycling paper, also require chemicals, electicity,
and other resources. Also, paper fibers can only be recycled a limited number of times before they become useless. So, if possible, choose to reduce and
reuse.
What the Research Says:
According to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, each person in the United States uses an average of 700 pounds of paper each year!
For more facts and ideas about how to reduce paper use, visit the laboratory's Cutting Paper website.
Why it Helps You:
Reusing scrap paper can save you money on printer or notepad paper.

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
Mahatma Gandi
"In Wilderness is the preservation of the world."
Henry David Thoreau, "Walking"
"Mine is a message of hope. If everybody could think a little bit about the small choices that they make every day:
What do you eat, does it result in animal cruelty? What do you wear, how was it made, does it damage the environment?
When people start thinking like that, they do change. They do make changes. And when more and more people think like that, we get critical mass."
